Senior Software Engineer - Market Data

Qualifications:

Ten years of professional software development experience, including at least 5 years of experience developing Windows based server-side software using object oriented techniques
Recent and significant use of Visual Studio 2003, 2005, and/or 2008 with specific development in C++. Knowledge of C# is a plus.
Experience with trading or financial software, ideally US equities trading. Proprietary or institutional experience is a plus.
Extensive knowledge of market data direct feed products and experience implementing applications based on market data feed specifications.
Highly developed skills working with networking protocols such as tcp, udp, and multicast with emphasis on optimization of lan/wan communication for maximal throughput and minimal latency. Experience with message-oriented middleware products such as LBM or TIBCO would be a huge plus.
General understanding of QoS guarantees and ability to implement solutions for dealing with networking problems such as packet loss, network congestion, out-of-order delivery, etc...
Significant experience developing multi-threaded applications with ability to overcome problems such as deadlocks, race conditions, and thread-contention.
Strong problem-solving skills with a specific aptitude for rapidly identifying and resolving issues.
Disciplined approach to software design and ability to communicate design recommendations
Fundamental understanding of software design patterns and effective use of development methodologies.
Advanced knowledge in architectural design concepts and system design
Experienced delivering products through full life cycle in a fast paced agile and innovative environment
Proficient in use of profiling tools and techniques to optimize program flow and resource utilization
Disciplined use of a source control system
Strong sense of teamwork with excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience leading a team of engineers
Strength in planning projects and aligning engineers to tasks and plans

Definition of Role:

This role requires hands on, senior level engineering and development management skills to compliment the 5 experienced members of KTG's Market Data team. The Market Data team builds high performing systems that consume financial market data and provide the data on our internal network. Our proprietary Market Data systems also derive and extract enhanced interpretations of the data for our traders. The Market Data Team is keenly aware of the demand of bandwidth requirements and is constantly staying ahead of the curve in order to keep KTG at the forefront of the financial industry. A skilled engineer currently within the financial services arena will thrive in this role.
