Senior Network Engineer

Summary:

  • This position is for a Senior Network Engineer, responsible for support and maintenance of the company's network infrastructure spanning multiple datacenters. The position carries a high level of responsibility and some latitude for design and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a Cisco network across multiple datacenters & WAN connectivity to Market Centers.
  • Identify areas of network inefficiency and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Engineer, develop, and implement various Enterprise Level Solutions.
  • Install, support and configure Cisco routers and switches in a Production trading environment.
  • Proactively monitor, evaluate, and solve network performance issues.
  • Evaluate new network technology. Assist with the planning and design of future network architecture.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to network architecture, processes and support.
  • 70%: Maintaining and Implementing Network Infrastructure, 30% Projects
  • Implement and troubleshoot all aspects of a Cisco network infrastructure
  • Manage and configure 6500, 7200, 4500, 4000, 3500, 2600, and 1800 class routers.
  • Monitor and fine tune performance at all network levels.
  • Work closely with server support teams to deploy and support proprietary applications.
  • Manage and configure Cisco 6509 FWSM, Cisco ASA and PIX firewalls
  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot a Nortel PBX system.
  • Assist dedicated trading floor support staff with production issues as it relates to network infrastructure and WAN connectivity.
  • Work closely with network administrator on projects and tasks, and provide next tier support for troubleshooting issues.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to logically troubleshoot errors and determine their source.
  • Ability to repair problems or to quickly manage their resolution in a time critical environment.
  • Must have a high level of technical knowledge and the ability to handle multiple detail-oriented strategic projects simultaneously in an organized manner.
  • Experience operating high availability systems.
  • In depth knowledge of the Cisco security risks and stability maintenance issues.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic and alerting tools such as Solarwinds and Protocol Analyzers
  • Capacity to document presentable server/network configurations using Visio.
  • Excellent knowledge of VPN's, PIM RP, IGMP, VLAN Design, EIGRP and RIPv2.
  • Nortel PBX experience a plus

Highly Preferred:

  • Experience with a low latency, high availability infrastructure.
  • Experience with Market Data vendors - NYSE, NASDAQ, ARCA, INET, etc.
  • Strong Multicast design and support, including igmp, pim routing, RP resiliency.
  • Enterprise level design experience
  • Strong experience with 6500 series, FWSM and SVIs

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree a plus
  • CCNP required
